Cathy K. Goolsby is beginning her 25th year in the DeKalb County School District where she has success in learning, leading and molding students and educators in the bridge between elementary, middle and secondary to maximize learning experiences in the midst of personal, social, and emotional growth.
Her work experience in the field experience of education began as substitute teacher, progressed as a paraprofessional and classroom teacher, continued as an instructional coach, and an assistant principal and then culminated to her promotion to principal of Redan Elementary School.
She’s a team player. She works well with people in all levels of an organization. She inspects what she expects. She’s known to be honest and transparent. Two mottos that that best describe Ms. Goolsby’s character and expectations are “Do the right thing when no one is looking” and “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable!” She takes pride in ensuring fairness and equity in decision making, while simultaneously focusing on the needs of children, parents, teachers, staff, administrators and the school system at large.
