Redan Third Grader Published
                             
J'Avani Stinson in Mrs. Thornton's third grade class recently had work published.  His poem, entitled Don't Do Drugs, can be found in the book 29th Annual Marel Brown Creative Writing Program 2014.  Please join us in congratulating him!
 
Career Day 2014

     

Redan Elementary School had a very successful Career Day on Friday, March 21st.  Students had the privilege of being visited by many different professionals in our community.  They learned about a variety of occupations.  We wish to thank all of those who participated and helped to make it such a wonderful experience.  

Author Adam Herndon Visits Redan Elementary School
                  
On February 20th, Mr. Adam Herndon visited Redan Elementary School.  Mr. Herndon is the author of the book The Story of Alonzo Herndon:  Who Says a Slave Can't Be a Millionaire?  Our first graders enjoyed listening to Mr. Herndon read this captivating biographical story and interacting with him.  We extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Herndon and to Dr. Charles Ward, Executive Director of The Herndon Home Museum & Foundation who accompanied him on his visit.

Mrs. Askins

Mrs. Askins has over 20 years of teaching experience and the Redan faculty and staff salute her for making a positive impact in the academic progress of our students. Mrs. Askins' philosophy in education is, "...when you show children that you care, then you will gain their respect and trust.".  Her mission is to get to know her students, meet them where thy are, teach them effectively, and motivate them to succeed in a fun filled, nurturing , and learning environment.
